Notes and Passport Validity

There are no special notes about passport validity at this time. In general, it is good to ensure that your passport is valid 3 months after your trip ends.

Entry permit on arrival for NT$300. Free online registration prior to arrival is also available. Applicable only to those born in Hong Kong or Macau, or those who have previously entered Taiwan at least once as a permanent resident of Hong Kong. Not applicable to HKSAR passport holders with nationality or citizenship of another country except for persons with dual Chinese nationality and British National (Overseas) status:In addition, HKSAR passport holders can now apply entry permit online.:

Safety and Security

Do not travel.

All non-Taiwanese travellers are barred from entering Taiwan. Exemptions apply for foreigners who are permanent residents, government officials or visiting for formal business purposes. Documented proof is required; check with your nearest Taiwanese representative office for further details on requirements. If you are a permanent resident (or dual citizen) of Taiwan, you will be able to enter but will need to undertake 14 days of home quarantine. Travellers already in Taiwan who have been in or transited through Europe, Turkey, Egypt or Dubai since 5 March are also required to undertake 14 days of home quarantine. Our level of advice has not changed:  Do not travel to Taiwan.
